- Last week I was shocked to hear that a british parliamentary inquiry declared 81-year old CEO Mr Murdoch “not a fit person to run his global company News Corp. They further questioned his ability to “exercise the stewardship of a major international company.” Waoooo I never heard something like that before regardless of the facts that led to this declaration. if I had not heard about the scandal reading the news I thought for a moment that Mr. Murdoch had lost the ability to understand and desire.Thinking of the functions of Board of Directors very interesting is the News Corporation’s statement released from New York. According to the board of directors of News Corp, they announced “full confidence in Rupert Murdoch’s fitness and support to continue to lead News Corp into the future”. Waooooo
The board based its vote of confidence on his vision and leadership in building News Corp, his ongoing performance, and his demonstrated resolve to address the mistakes of the company identified in the select committee’s report. WaooooNow, you may well say, well, that’s hardly surprising, a board made up like that would offer its full support. But the fact is, it is — it’s full confidence, and it is quite unambiguous in its message, there. Rupert Murdoch receiving the full confidence of his board of directors despite the report issued by a select committee at Westminster.I do not doubt the managerial wisdom of Mr. Murdoch
